Using Blogs in the classroom is becoming more and more popular. Many teachers are using these blogs as a part of their writing curriculum.
In Saipan, one teacher uses these blogs to help his students whose second language is English, master their writing skills.
What do you think about using blogs in the classroom? Is it something you would want to do?
How can using blogs in the classroom help those students whose second language is English?
I have never heard about blogging in a classroom before this class. I find it very interesting, and I am intrigued in using this tool in my classroom as well. In the video they talk about how the world can see it so the students are very careful about their writing. I like that they know the audience is not only their teacher, but anybody who chooses to look at their blog. It makes the students want to put more effort into their work, while teaching them at the same time. Because the students get to write about their thoughts and feelings, I find that it engages students and can even improve their writing skills. This is definitely something I would like to use in my classroom.
ReplyDeleteI think blogging is great because it provides multiple avenues for learning. A teacher can use the blog as a central location for finding tools that can enhance student learning which takes place in the classroom, such as video clips, links to articles, sound bites, etc.
ReplyDeleteI definitely think I will use a blog in my classroom, even if it is just as a tool for communicating with parents.
I think that blogging in the classroom is a great idea. Students today have so many opportunities to use the internet and current technology that it is almost imposible to not use these resourcecs in the classroom. We are so lucky to be future teachers in this time. We have all the information we ould ever need at our fingertips. With blogging students will be able to learn more about the importance of the internet as well as the fun they can have while learning. When students are able to use a media such as the internet in order to do school work they get excited about the different form of learning. Blogging is a great way to get your thoughts and ideas out. It also heps because others can comment on your ideas and help you further your knowledge of the subject at hand.
ReplyDeleteBlogging can serve as an effective tool in the classroom because it disguises school work as something more casual. I believe that the informality of blogging allows students to open up and be honest. I have never been apart of a classroom that took part in blogging until this semester and i think it's great. It is also a good way to connect to our most vast resource, the internet. You could send links to students and do other multimedia activity. Blogging must be a supplement to something bigger. It cannot be the focus of a course because i don't think it has all the tools to suffice a classroom.
